Jesús Torres-Garza

Jesús Torres-Garza focuses on immigration, criminal defense, and civil rights matters. Having immigrated to the United States at a young age, Jesús understands the challenges families and individuals face when dealing with the complex and ever-changing immigration and criminal system. Jesús is committed to providing quality legal services and individualized attention to help clients achieve their goals.

Jesús earned his B.A. from Mankato State University and his J.D. from the University of St. Thomas School of Law. While in law school, Jesús was an Ella Baker intern through the Center for Constitutional Rights in New York, where he gained practical litigation experience and sharpened his theoretical understanding of the relationship between social change, organizing, and lawyering.

To this day, Jesús remains committed to supporting social justice organizations. For instance, he partners with Centro de Trabajadores Unidos en la Lucha (CTUL) to represent victims of labor trafficking and civil rights abuses, he provides probono representation to victims of crime through the Immigrant Law Center, and he provides mentoring and support to probono attorneys representing asylum seekers through the Advocates for Human Rights. Also, Jesús has partnered with The Federal Immigration Litigation Clinic of the Center for New Americans and has worked on appellate litigation before the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals.

Jesús has also served as a board member at the Headwaters Foundation for Justice and Voices for Racial Justice.
